It’s a vending machine.
The vending machine is unlit and powered down. A small sign on the machine says “Insert Money To Buy Medicine.”
DOCTOR CROSS: Hello, and welcome to the hospital! I’m a doctor. Doctors are people who help you feel better when your body is bad.
DOCTOR CROSS: No, your body is very good.
DOCTOR CROSS: She must have that disease that makes shapes different and ugly. There’s medicine that will cure her in the hospital’s vending machine, which is directly north from here. Unfortunately, you can’t buy any medicine right now.
DOCTOR CROSS: To use the vending machine you first need two things. Money and for the vending machine to be on. Unfortunately, there’s no money here and the vending machine is off.
DOCTOR CROSS: All of the world’s money is in the bank, because the bank is greedy and won’t share the money with anyone. Nobody else has any money, so people can’t buy anything. If you want money, you’ll have to get it from the bank somehow.
DOCTOR CROSS: Unfortunately, we can’t turn the vending machine on right now because the city has no electricity. Electricity is like food for machines, and without it machines are too hungry to get anything done. Electricity usually comes from the Shapeyard power plant across town, but there’s a blackout right now. You’ll have to go there and figure out how to turn the electricity back on.

DOCTOR CROSS: That’s right. If you need guidance on how to do that, you should visit the church. Churches are like hospitals that heal your soul instead of your body. A soul is a friendly ghost that lives inside of you.
SQUARE: The worst part about being sick is having a disease.
PATIENT: I used to be a beautiful star before the disease made me an ugly star.
OVAL PATIENT: Hi Mr. Circle! Do you recognize me?
OVAL PATIENT: I’m from Circleburg! I’m the Avocado Shopkeeper’s Son. I used to be a handsome circle, but then the disease mutated me into an oval. Do you think ovals are ugly?
OVAL PATIENT: I guess I am ugly. That’s too bad, because I’d rather not be ugly.
OVAL PATIENT: I don’t know if different things are bad or good.
QUADRILATERAL: Don’t look at me! The disease made me different and different is hideous!
